When I started with SGI [Silicon Graphics, Inc.] 2 years ago, I had the honor of working along side John. I'm a Business Analyst who supports user access to a number of applications including Business Objects, Magellan, MYOB Light, and a few smaller financial applications. John's job is to make my life easier by helping me out with applications and systems administration support, and sometimes creating custom solutions where a manual effort will be very time-consuming. I strongly feel that John is an excellent candidate for any type of database or systems related Information Systems support contract.
John is intelligent, has a great sense of humor and easy to communicate with as a co-worker and friend. More importantly, he has got an incredible abilitiy to solve problems, and communicate his efforts to others. In one particular instance I accedentally deleted all the data in a table. We ofound out that this table was on a test Database and therefore was not being backed up. Thankfully, John stepped in when the DBA told me that I was out of luck. John was familiar with the architecture of the application and found a different table that it wrote to. He worked with our DBA to get a copy of the data moved back into the table, which contained zero records now. This saved me countless days of manual data entry. This is just one instance of many, where John has greatly helped me out.
John is also an excellent teacher and support for any user. When I setup access for users, John is usually at the individual's desk making sure everything is working. He's familiar with both UNIX and NT, which makes him a great resource for any platform a user is on. He makes sure they know what's going on and how this application works before leaving their side. He's always available for help and never minds going over to a user's desk.
Overall, I am very impressed with John's ability and talent for problem solving. John's a hard worker and more importantly is a team player who gets along with all his co-workers here at SGI. He would be a perfect fit as a database architect or administrator, systems integrator, or systems administrator. His knowledge of systems in incredible, he's always willing to help out, and he adds value to any situation.
