From the spring of 2005 through the fall of 2006, John Weathington served in a key leadership rol as the GSA (General Services Administration) data warehouse team lead. In this capacity, John led his team in an effort aimed at translating complex business requirements (e.g., related to GSA’s Industry Funding Fee [IFF] calculation, Special Item Number [SIN] tracking, and repricing compliance requirements) into technical requirements that could be implemented in a new data warehouse solution. John’s strong business acumen enabled him to serve as the primary liaison with our business partner whose reporting requirements, ultimately, needed to be satisfied. John’s strong project management and IT skills allowed him to lead and manage a team of IT developers; his team delivered the data warehouse solution on time and within budget. John’s solid communication skills held him in good stead, as he kept the program office and our business partner informed throughout the course of the project, always setting realistic expectations, negotiating priorities, providing regular status reporting, identifying and communicating risks, and timely escalating issues and unmet needs. Overall, John’s performance set a standard of excellence to be
emulated. I would work with him again in an instant, and would definitely
recommend him, or hire him again, for program or project work that taps
into his core skills and talents.
